Nutella, Port & Pretzels: The Sweet-Salty Pairing You Didn’t Know You Needed This post may contain affiliate links. This week’s wine and snack pairing is one of those why haven’t I done this before?! combinations. Rich, cozy, a little unexpected, and dangerously easy to love: Nutella, port wine, and pretzels. It’s sweet. It’s salty. It’s indulgent without trying too hard. And it’s perfect for slow evenings, book club nights, or when you want a treat that feels elevated but still familiar. 🍷 The Wine: Port Port is naturally sweet, full-bodied, and comforting—think notes of dark fruit, cocoa, and warm spice. That richness is exactly what makes it such a good match for dessert-style snacks. Instead of pairing port with something overly fancy, this combo leans into comfort. The wine’s sweetness mirrors Nutella’s chocolate-hazelnut flavor, while its depth keeps the pairing from feeling one-note or overly sugary. If you’re newer to port, this is a gentle, approachable way to enjoy it. (We use Bin 27 in store, and it really is delightful!!) 🥨 The Snack: Pretzels Pretzels might seem simple, but don’t underestimate them here. Their crunch and saltiness are essential. That hit of salt: Balances the sweetness of the port Cuts through Nutella’s richness Keeps every bite interesting Soft pretzels feel cozy and indulgent, while classic crunchy pretzels add texture and make this pairing easy to recreate at home. 🍫 The Star: Nutella Nutella brings everything together. Creamy, chocolatey, nostalgic: it’s the kind of treat that instantly feels comforting. Paired with port, Nutella’s cocoa notes deepen and become almost dessert-like. Paired with pretzels, it hits that perfect sweet-salty balance that keeps you reaching for just one more bite. Pro tip: serve Nutella slightly warmed for an extra luxe feel. ✨ How to Serve It This pairing doesn’t need much to feel special. Small pours of port (a little goes a long way) A bowl of pretzels A dish of Nutella for dipping Optional add-ins: strawberries, sliced apples, or marshmallows Set it out on a tray, light a candle, and you’ve got an effortless dessert moment 📖 Perfect For: Reading nights Book club desserts After-dinner treats Date night at home to try something new on a budget Cozy weekends at home Hosting without stress This is the kind of pairing that invites you to slow down: sip, snack, and savor the moment. If you try this pairing, let us know what you think. It’s simple, nostalgic, and a little indulgent; in the very best way.

Sometimes the most surprising pairings are the most memorable. Crisp Brut brings bright bubbles and refreshing acidity that cut through richness while highlighting sweetness in unexpected ways. Pair it with Nerds Clusters, and you get a playful contrast: tangy, crunchy candy popping against the wine’s clean, dry finish. Add Brie cheese to the mix, and the pairing finds balance. Brie’s creamy, buttery texture softens the candy’s tart edge while the Brut keeps everything light and lively. It’s a fun, modern snack moment that blends elegance with nostalgia!!! Perfect for sharing or savoring solo. $12 for the wine and snack pairing, in store 1/4–1/10. This post may contain affiliate links.
